Regulatory
Safe Transition Task Force (STTF)

AHRI is leading an effort to evaluate the refrigerant supply chain and to address issues related to the safe and reliable use of mildly flammable refrigerants. The AHRI Safe Transition Task Force currently is made up of 50 organizations, including AHRI members, training organizations, contracting associations, fire service organizations, state and federal government agencies, unions, and others. The roster is now closed to new voting members, but organizations may join as non-voting members. The voting roster will be re-opened in December 2019.

The Task Force will have seven working groups:

  • Safety Training
  • Communications
  • Codes & Standards
  • Recovery/Reclaim/Destruction (not yet begun)
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) / Shipping
  • Manufacturing and Bulk Storage (not yet begun)
  • Installation/Operation/Maintenance

The working groups develop materials and pursue goals reviewed and approved by the STTF. To date, 119 stakeholders participate in the five existing working groups.
