Public Sector Research

AHRI’s research arm AHRTI is a not-for-profit organization established to undertake scientific research in the public interest. AHRTI’s mission is to foster applied research on technologies to improve products, systems, and controls that benefit the general public in the areas of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration (HVACR), and Water Heating.

AHRTI research is pre-competitive and provides HVACR and water heating manufacturers with the scientific knowledge needed to develop the next generation of energy efficient, environmentally friendly HVACR and water heating equipment. AHRTI has more than thirty years of experience in successfully organizing and managing major collaborative research programs and is uniquely suited for efficient dissemination of technical information to U.S. HVACR and water heating industry.

About AHRTI

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology Institute, Inc. (AHRTI) is a not-for-profit organization to conduct scientific research in the public interest. Established in 1989, AHRTI is collocated with AHRI in Arlington, Virginia. Its operations are supported by AHRI staff under the general oversight of the AHRTI Board of Directors and the technical guidance of the AHRTI Steering Committee comprised of the AHRI Research and Technology Committee and representatives from other funding entities.

AHRTI research is pre-competitive, basic research to provide HVACR manufacturers with the scientific knowledge and design tools needed to develop the next generation of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly HVACR equipment.
