On September 27, AHRI Vice President of Asia Operations Bridge Xue visited Hisense-Hitachi in Qingdao, China and met with its Vice President, Zhang Wenqiang. The two discussed industry developments impacting the global market, such as the new efficiency requirement for unitary small equipment, updates to the controller verification procedure (CVP) under the VRF standard, the A2L refrigerant transition in North America, and recent changes to the global part load value for chillers. AHRI President & CEO Meets with Regulatory Official in Anhui, ChinaOn September 12, AHRI President and CEO Stephen Yurek met in China with the Director of Market Regulation for the Anhui province, Han Yongsheng. During the meeting, he thanked her for her support of AHRI’s China Office and provided a briefing on recent industry activities and trends. During the meeting, Mrs. Han explained changes in the local market and discussed the possibility of a joint effort with AHRI to support manufacturers on regulation development and global market access. AHRI Officials Attend 2024 International ForumOn September 11, AHRI President and CEO Stephen Yurek, Senior Vice President of Global Operations Henry Hwong, and Vice President of Asia Operations Bridge Xue attended the 2024 International Forum on Sustainable Development of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry in Hefei, China. During the forum, Yurek provided updates on U.S. progress in the current refrigerant transition progress in implementing U.S. and equipment tax incentive program, and the latest information on the U.S. regulatory landscape. He also met with a number of government officials and business executives, including representatives from China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the China Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Industry Association (CRAA), as well as the CEO of Sanhua Group, and senior staff from other AHRI member companies in China. From May 28-30, AHRI President and CEO Stephen Yurek and AHRI Vice President of Asian Operations Bridge Xue attended the Air-conditioning, Refrigeration, and Building Services Exhibition (ARBS) in Sydney, Australia. With more than 9,000 attendees and over 340 exhibitors, it is one of Australia’s largest HVACR industry events. During the exhibition, Yurek presented on, “Global Perspectives on the Challenges of Heat Pump Deployment,” which provided an update on the situation in North America. He and Xue also met with several AHRI members at the event, and visited GJ WALKER (AHU company) and SMARDT (Chiller company) in Melbourne ahead of the exhibition. Contact: Bridge Xue. AHRI Vice President Attends Meeting with VISRAE in VietnamOn May 13, Bridge Xue, AHRI Vice President of Asia Operations, met with Dr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Society of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (VISRAE), and Cao Dai Thang, Chairman of the Intech Group. During the meeting, Dr. Tien outlined the changes happening within Vietnam’s HVACR industry, emphasizing the need for a VRF testing lab in the country. He explained that Intech launched a new labeling program for its VRF product, but that it needs to be reconsidered according to the new AHRI standard 1230, and there currently are no domestic testing labs. The group also discussed the new energy efficiency (SEER2/HSPF2) requirement for unitary small equipment, and Xue updated the group about the refrigerant transition in North America, as well as the new AHUC classification for hospital and factory environments according to AHRI 1350. AHRI Attends 2024 Build4Asia Expo in Hong KongOn May 8, Bridge Xue, AHRI Vice President of Asia Operations, attended the 2024 Build4Asia Expo in Hong Kong, where he gave a presentation titled, “AHRI and Related Standards Certification Program to Air Side Equipment.” Designed for consultants and project managers, the presentation introduced the new ratings and changes for the AHU industry. During the event, he also met with Blanche Li, Managing Director of Ever Cool Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Co., Ltd. (TECH FREE), to discuss AHU standards and regulations in Hong Kong and areas of South Asia. Contact: Bridge Xue AHRI Participates in China Refrigeration Expo, Meets with Member CompaniesFrom April 8-10, AHRI President and CEO Stephen Yurek and Senior Vice President of Global Operations Henry Hwong joined the staff from AHRI’s China office in attending the 2024 China Refrigeration Expo in Beijing. During the expo, Yurek led a presentation titled, “State of the Refrigerant Transition and Other Industry Issues” in a round table meeting with industry partners. He also joined the AHRI-ASERCOM-CARR meeting to discuss PFAS regulations in Europe and a new standard for compressors. AHRI staff had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with several company representatives during the expo, and visited AHRI members Hisense-Hitachi and Haier in Qingdao after the event. AHRI VP Meets with Industry Partner to Discuss Standards, TestingOn March 12-13, Bridge Xue, AHRI’s Vice President of Asia Operations, met with Tran Ba Anh, the President of B&A Air Conditioning Technology Co.,Ltd., in Vietnam. During their meeting, the two discussed the new AHRI Standard 1350 (I-P), Mechanical Performance Rating of Central Station Air-Handling Unit Casings and AHRI’s Central Station Air-Handling Unit certification program.
