Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
Overview
The AHRI office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, furthers its members’ interests by enhancing relationships with manufacturers, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations in the region. Our team helps manufacturers address increasing regulatory requirements and demand for AHRI standards and certification programs in the Arabian Gulf, including within Gulf Cooperation Council countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the Levant area, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and others, as well as in North Africa, including Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia.
Regulatory Compliance
AHRI supports regulators around the world by developing key components of the energy efficiency regulatory process for a variety of products in the HVACR and water heating industry. The AHRI MENA team is leading the development of standards and regulations by advocating on behalf of members and other stakeholders in the region.
AHRI MENA hosts several Standard Working Groups (SWGs) covering key sectors, including Air Moving Systems, Chillers, Unitary and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, Refrigerant Transition, Water Heaters, and Evaporative Cooling. These working groups serve as a platform for industry experts, manufacturers, and regulatory bodies to collaborate on the development of region-specific standards that align with global best practices while addressing the unique challenges of the MENA region.
Overseeing these working groups is the MENA Standard Technical Committee (STC), which serves as the governing body responsible for guiding their activities and ensuring alignment with industry needs. The establishment of the MENA STC represents the first initiative of its kind outside of North America, marking a significant milestone in AHRI’s commitment to expanding its standards and certification programs on a global scale.
