AHRI 210/240 (I-P): Performance Rating of Unitary Air-conditioning and Air-source Heat Pump Equipment
Standard Scope
AHRI 210/240-2024 (I-P) establishes definitions, classifications, test requirements, rating requirements, operating requirements, minimum data requirements for published ratings, marking and nameplate data, and conformance conditions for unitary air-conditioners and unitary air-source heat pumps.
This standard applies to factory-made unitary air-conditioners and unitary air-source heat pumps with capacities less than 65,000 Btu/h as defined in Section 3.
Energy Source
This standard applies only to electrically operated, vapor compression refrigeration systems.
Exclusions
AHRI 210/240-2024 (I-P) does not apply to the rating and testing of:
- Heat operated air-conditioning/heat pump equipment.
- Packaged terminal air-conditioners/heat pumps, as defined in AHRI 310/380.CSA C744.
- Room air-conditioners/heat pumps.
- Unitary air-conditioners and unitary air-source heat pumps as defined in AHRI 340/360 or AHRI 1340 with capacities of 65,000 Btu/h or greater.
- Water-source heat pumps, ground water-source heat pumps, or ground-source closed-loop heat pumps as defined in ANSI/AHRI/ASHRAE/ISO Standard 13256-1-1998 (R2012) and ANSI/AHRI/ASHRAE/ISO Standard 13256-2-1998 (R2012).
- Water heating heat pumps.
- Units equipped with desuperheater/water heating devices in operation.
- Variable refrigerant flow air-conditioners and heat pumps as defined in AHRI 1230 with capacities of 65,000 Btu/h and greater.
- Single package vertical units as defined in AHRI 390.
